Theophilus London + Vashtie “I Want You” Video

8 Jun

One of my personal favorites, Theophilus London is a killer. Charming, expressive, and down-to-earth, this guy is guaranteed to make you swoon. Not to mention his production and beats knock very hard and are a surefire way to start any girl’s party night.

His new video, the title jam from his I Want You Mixtape, “I Want You” was directed by Vashtie (Pharrell’s old girl, remember?). Vashtie has directed a hit-list of videos, including “Us Placers” by Lupe Fiasco and Kanye West, “T.O.N.Y.” by Solange, “One Time” by Justin Beiber, and some other goodies.

Theophilus in his description of the video:

the visuals of this piece would match the sexual sound of the song. shot less like a typical music video and more like a 60’s experimental french new wave film, our story takes place on a hot and steamy summer night in the CHELSEA HOTEL.

Enjoy!

Retro Notes: “Why Don’t You Love Me?” by Beyonce

6 May

My favorite diva queen is back again, musing from her “Telephone” retro look. If you love pin-up dolls, sass, and booty you will definitely be entertained.

Since I am a true Beyonce fan, I can’t give an honest unbiased opinion. The song is good and the video is just…interesting. It’s a different look for Beyonce, which I can appreciate. Enjoy!

I LOVE short-shorts, high waisted suits, and I die for cocktail rings so this was just unbearable to watch. Now I must go shopping!

Esperanza Spalding

15 Mar

There’s nothing I adore more than a head full of curls. Scouring the ‘net one day, I stumbled upon this young lady:

esperanza-spalding-2

A talent out of this world with a gorgeous visage to match, it’s no wonder she’s gaining popularity. Her music is an eclectic mix of jazz and blues with a modern flair. But it’s not just her music that is getting her attention:

esperanza_brWhile online window shopping (don’t act like you don’t do it too!), I was on the Banana Republic site. I was very pleasantly surprised (and slightly shocked) to see her as one of their models. Can’t wait to see and hear more of this woman…
