Fashion’s Night Out NYC 2010!

13 Sep

In case you’re dead or seriously just came back from a part of the world where the only inhabitants were sheep, here’s a newsflash: September 9th was the beginning of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. Friday, September 10, was the public’s introduction to the Week with Fashion’s Night Out, a celebration of fashion and all it’s accompaniments.  FNO is a mix of events, promotions, and introductions of a new products not limited to strictly fashion but incorporating food, music, and general fun.

Some of the Masque gang and friends went exploring NYC starting in the Meat Packing District, wandering to Bloomingdale’s and then back down to Soho to end the night. Here’s a little of what went down:

We started at Pop Burger (Ninth Ave between 14th and 15th) where Dev the Fabulous and Bossman Kelly were already chowing down. I came in just before our friend Jess and after a few more moments of chit chat, we were off and running.

Make a day out of Fashion’s Night Out!

8 Sep

This week marks the beginning of one of the most important weeks in New York City – Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. Today is also the day Anna Wintour launches “Fashion’s Night Out: The Show”. If you were not one of the lucky 1,500 to nab a ticket to the event, you can celebrate fashion in another way – make a girl’s day out of Fashion’s Night Out!

A Girl’s Gotta Eat! Catch brunch before hitting the town, the day is young…

  • Zé Café: an elegant brunch with the girls full of French-Italian fare, this restaurant of blooms offers beautiful salads, greek yogurts, omelettes, biscuits and more. Peek at the full menu here.
  • Zé Café

  • Palma: Frittatas and omelettes abound, this quaint Italian restaurant is adorable. If you’re looking to channel Julia Roberts a la Eat, Pray, Love, please drop by. There is an outdoor garden in between the restaurant and the carriage house, with vines hugging the walls and linen patterned tablecloths. Absolutely worth visiting. See the full brunch menu here.

Pretty, down to the toes!

Chanel will be debuting a line of khaki nail polishes for Fashion’s Night Out, so be sure to make your way to a Chanel store to pick up a bottle of the $25 paint (if you are patient and can wait a while to get your hands the rose-brown-green trio, visit chanel.com).

With polish in tow, try to find a place to relax and get pampered before the big night! My favorite places for a mani/pedi/massage/good convo with a manicurist:

  • Confidence Beauty Salon: This east-side hideaway always offers tons of specials. Be sure to get Special #3 – “Come and Bring your friend and get Manicure & Pedicure for $25 each person”. Yes, please!
  • Salon

  • Devachan Spa: Most natural-hair divas are familiar with the salon, famous for it’s DevaCurl products and the bright-green diffuser shaped like a hand. This Salon and Departure Lounge Spa offers an extensive menu of services, and take very good care of you.

Enjoy the festivities! The city is full of things to do, from top to bottom. Make the most of Fashion’s Night Out. Enjoy everything that is being handed out, take pictures, meet fellow fashionistas and serve, honey!

After the show is the…After party! Don’t end the night young. Party until your heart’s content at Santos Party House. If you don’t feel like rubbing shoulders with fash-types, you can always host an afterparty of your own.

Viva la fashion, ladies!
