MASQUE Moxie: Casey Versailles

23 Aug

Now is the time for Graphic Design. Visual creativity is booming on all fronts – even throughout business and technical industries. Who better for the job than a woman with art in her heart and the drive to execute? Her name is Casey Versailles, and she is a Freelance Graphic Artist/Designer that “helps people visually translate their personas”.

Casey describes herself as “a creative soul born in the Bayou BAY BAY! I love my GOD, my family, my art, my food, , and my music. I hate being like everyone else. What’s the point of trying to be like everyone else?  You were created individually so be an individual!“. Continue reading

What’s YOUR Masque?: Marie Denee

27 Aug

I’m not sure if you all are aware, but about 56% of American women are plus-size. Most designers are aware, but have yet to fully take heed. But not this woman!

Ms. Marie Denee hails from sunny California and…well, I’ll let you read the rest…

Let everyone know who you are and what you do: Well, my name is Marie, or Marie Denee. I am a fashion blogger for the discerning plus size fashionista. I aim to highlight all things fashion from the plus perspective.

What mantra do you live by? Keep it Curvy.Confident.Chic.

Any new projects in the works? On 09.09.09 I am launching the contemporary designer plus size boutique, Marie Denee. I am geeked about this!

So, Marie Denee is an upscale contemporary online boutique that offers today’s fashion forward, curvy, confident, and chic plus size woman, a sanctuary where she can confidently shop the latest designer fashions in her size, without sacrificing her desires for premium, fashion forward, and impeccably fit options.

What will you be doing to celebrate your new online boutique? I haven’t even thought that far, as it also coincides with my birthday this year!  We will party- this I know!

Anything lined up for 2010? I plan to open a physical location in Oakland, California!  In addition to building assortments and sourcing new and hard to find designers, I will be attending the BBW Empowerment Cruise as a seminar speaker!

and of course, we had our Masque questions! (check them after the jump…)

Hater Masque: Michelle Obama

4 May

I’m so sorry…but I have my hater masque on. Michelle Obama has RUINED my love life. How you say? Any single black female knows where I’m coming from…

I can NEVER date a REGULAR dude ever again.

Every time a dude hollers…I ask him the following questions:

  • Are you a community organizer?
  • Did you graduate Harvard Law?
  • Do you believe you can be Commander-in-Chief one day?
  • Shhhheeyt if not president, do you at least want to be a senator??

A dude says ‘No’ to any one of those, I can’t date him. I mean…look at what Michelle has! I have to match her…or surpass her. My dude better want to be like…president of the World. Werd.

P.S. Look at her in this picture…just laughing at all of us in her head. I see you Michelle…

mail

It’s not very often you find a young woman who is so passionate and completely honest about everything she does. It is a great pleasure to introduce Miss I. Eugenia to you all! She has a sincere respect for anything art and everything real. I. Eugenia is the mind behind “Blank. Bare. Clean.”, a blog dedicated to anything art. When describing it, she says:

Where my passions become airborne. Art for people who are not afraid of nay sayers’ BLANKstares, or the thrill of being challenged by a BAREcanvas, and last but not least those who are living REAL life— the type of life that occassionally summons you to seek a CLEANslate. I invite you to exhale with me… and live a tad bit more fearlessly than you did the day before.

Take a journey with us, and get to know a little more about her…

What’s YOUR Masque?…Jessica Gueco

Jessica Guero

This chick is fly. Im estatic to do our first Masque Spotlight on Jess. Talk about being everrryyy woman, this lady has accomplished so much while only in her mid 20’s.

I’d say the most glaringly obvious thing about her is her sense of fashion. While we all have our own, this chica epitomizes and masters street wear. Jess is heavily involved with the fashion industry and even used to work as a stylist while she was living out in the West Coast. Birds of a feather flock together, so of course she knows plenty of people on the come up in this GLAMMed UP industry. One of her connections definitely worth a look at is her friend’s clothing company HELLZ-BELLZ.

I felt a spotlight on Jess was absolutely neccessary to show the people a facet of the MASQUE community. Everyday woman, doing everyday things, and kicking ass at it. 🙂

Check out Jessica’s Interview under the jump.. Continue reading
