Dancing in six-inch heels is not only a great way to feel sexy, it can also pierce sidewalk jelly donuts, making it easier for passersby to slurp up the filling. Feel great and open up pastry-wells with today’s Groupon: for $32, you get a four-session package of either DivaHip Hop or DivaStrip dance classes at DivaDance Company (a $65 value), named the 2009 Best of New York Dance Class by amNewYork.

DivaStrip keeps it classy and clothed while developing major muscle groups and allure over bassy hip-hop beats and pulsing rock anthems. These Pussycat Dolls–inspired sessions use chairs, boas, pythons, hats, and scarves to get you sexy sweating and keep you warm during indoor snowstorms.

Check the schedule to see which upcoming four-week workshop fits your schedule. Classes are typically Monday evenings and offer the chance to participate in the company’s winter 2010 recital. Attention Shoppers! Fashion’s Night Out NYC 2010

27 Jul

Last year was amazing, and this year Fashion’s Night Out is at it again!

FNO will return to NYC in New York on Friday, September 10, from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Last year, in NYC alone, more than 800 participating stores across the five boroughs feted thousands of shoppers who supported the fashion and retail industries—we expect this year’s event to be even bigger and better, with a lot of fun surprises!

In the United States, FNO is a collaboration between American Vogue, the Council of Fashion Designers of America, NYC & Company, and the City of New York. Around the world, countries led by at least fifteen international Vogue editions, will once again participate in the festivities. Nations including England, China, Japan, India, Italy, France, Brazil, Germany, Spain, Russia, Greece, and Taiwan— Turkey), each country will celebrate Fashion’s Night Out on one night between Sept 7 and Sept 16, 2010.

A percentage of the sales from the Fashion’s Night Out will be donated to The Change Network and NYC AID Fund.

The making of Fashion’s Night Out will be the subject of an hour-long, prime-time special on CBS, Tuesday, September 14, at 10 p.m. EST. Cameras will follow celebrities, designers, editors, and retailers as they prepare for year two of FNO, taking viewers behind the scenes during months of intense planning and tracking the night itself as it unfolds across the globe. This special will also look beyond the glamour to the real-life implications at stake, focusing on the individuals working in all parts of the industry, from salespeople to design staff, for whom the vibrancy of the fashion business is a question of economic survival.

Fashion’s Night Out (FNO) is an unprecedented global initiative created to celebrate fashion, restore consumer confidence, and boost the industry’s economy. In the United States, the program is a collaboration between American Vogue, the Council of Fashion Designers of America, NYC & Company, and the City of New York. On September 10, 2010, Fashion’s Night Out will return to New York City and launch in cities nationwide to put the fun back in shopping, with designer appearances, live windows, celebrity guests, and other special events. For more information visit, powered by QVC, or join us on Facebook and Twitter (

According to an independent study by ShopperTrak:

–       Foot traffic in stores jumped by 50% that night.

NYC & Company conducted a survey:

–       75 percent of them bought something that night.

–       Two-thirds of those consumers visited stores they have never been to before.

–       61% ventured out of their comfort zones, going to neighborhoods outside of their work and living areas.

–       July 30th to register to participate: In order to be included in NYC & Company printed materials prior to September 10.

For the first annual Fashion’s Night Out 2009, Melissa and I had the chance to make our rounds all over NYC. From men vogueing in the window of Opening Ceremony to the signature Tiffany Blue carpet strewn on Fifth Avenue, Fashion’s Night Out 2009 was a mindblowing experience. Let’s hope this year delivers as much as the first!

We will be posting the schedule of events as soon as we get them, so stay tuned.

Mad Men Mania! – Season 4 Premiere Party

26 Jul

Holding a degree in Advertising, it’s only natural that I am nuts about Mad Men. Mad Men Mania is taking over New York City right now (I spotted lots of commuters in their best Betty and Joan garb!), with a sponsored season premiere screening taking place in Times Square right now. If you’re not so local (or you are in NYC and just can’t handle the humidity outside), take matters into your own hands and host a Mad Men Premiere Soiree for you and yours! Continue reading

I <3 Trashy Teen Dramas…

22 Jul

Summer TV is usually pretty crappy. The May-September season is typically a barren wasteland of reruns and has-been celebrity reality shows.

But if you’re like me and cheesy, slightly over-the-top teen dramas are your thing, then you’re in luck! TeenNick is changing its stale summertime routine. They’ve launched a brand new season of their wildly popular show based on the lives of Canadian high schoolers, Degrassi. With a few new faces, extended story lines, and even the series’ first transgendered character, this season promises to be an exciting one.

I honestly love this show, but past seasons have left a lot to be desired in terms of character development. Hopefully, the new “soap opera” format will change this and the shows writers can deliver on their promises of explosive scandals and secrets. We’ll see if Degrassi can take the place of my first “trashy drama” love, Skins.

New episodes of “Degrassi: The Boiling Point” air every weeknight this summer at 9pm on TeenNick.

Open for business!

The doors of Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce are open for business!

Season four of the hit AMC original drama, Mad Men, premieres this Sunday evening at 10pm.   You can “go mad” and be a part of a premiere screening event in NYC’s Time Square! Scheduled with a Mad Men costume contest, trivia, and the exclusive screening.

Before Mad Men premiered three seasons ago in 2007, I don’t think I knew where exactly AMC could be found between ESPN and VH1. But since the mad men of Sterling Cooper have caught the attention of viewers and critics alike they’ve won five Golden Globes, nine Emmy awards, countless other awards and my full attention every Sunday night.

It has been acclaimed for its great rendition of life in 1960s and its visual style. It’s also great to watch and see our favorite commercial items from today make their way into the series, such as Kodak, Clearasil face wash, Hilton hotels, and many others.  Though Mad Men is set in a fictional advertising agency, the characters deal with hardcore dilemmas: Don’s constant adultery which led to Betty’s petition divorce and departure to Reno, Peggy’s child out of wedlock, Pete’s annoying desire for upward mobility, Salvatore’s “closet” homosexuality, “invisible” racism throughout the series, and many other circumstances that are mirrored very well by the great writers of Mad Men. If you haven’t done so yet…tune in on Sunday at 10pm. Also visit AMC  here to find out if you have what it takes to get hired by Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce with an online job interview with the nouveau ad agency.

Lovely Lady-Like Nails, Lippmann Style

22 Jul you know me, you know I’m a nailpolish fanatic – I might even border on obsessive.  From the trendiest hues to the most unusual, I’m always looking for something gorgeous and long-lasting.  One of my new favorite collections are that of celebrity manicurist Deborah Lippmann. Even if you haven’t heard of her, you see her laquers everywhere, on everyone.  Whether its a magazine cover or a high fashion runway show, her creative colors pop up in many places.

Due to her love for music, Lippman is known for collaborating with musicians and other stars when developing new colors, all of which don the name of a song, from “Hit Me with Your Best Shot” to “P.Y.T.” and everything in  between.  One of my personal favorites is Stardust, a rich silver metallic and the Addicted To Speed, ultra quick dry top coat.

As a true manicurist, her line doesn’t stop with polish. Lippmann’s site offers tools and treatments to ensure your hands (and feet) are at their most beautiful.  For true at home pampering, try Helping Hand, mandarin hand scrub for dazzling digits!

Getting Intimate with Leah

22 Jul

Oregon, Ohio, NYC, Chicago, Portland Boudoir Photographer logoAnniversary approaching? What better way to say “I love you and I’m yours” than with a naughty little portfolio of pics? allows you to do just that. Leah Stafford offers her services and photog skills to those who want to acquire a collection of spicy and sweet pictures. Leah says:

I never grew up saying I was going to be a boudoir photographer. However, I grew up with a deep want to help people and so I wanted to major in psychology. However, our paths also don’t turn out how we want them but sometimes it’s only for the better. Now, I’m a boudoir photographer, I work with amazing clients, I get to create images for these women and at the end of the day I am helping every girl that comes to me. I show her that she is gorgeous and she is sexy despite maybe not feeling it. It’s a wonderful feeling having clients come in, leave as friends and feel 100% better about themselves!

And she does just that.  Whether you participate in her marathons, reserved weekends in certain cities at particular hotels where one can book their appointment session, or call to make a private appointment, Leah is sure to bring out the fun and flirty in any girl.  Her aptitude in photoshop doesn’t hurt either – check out the Before and After to see how she uses her editing, taking pride in glossing over some flaws but never altering the shape of the woman.

Why not be a model for the day? Making your (and his) fantasy come true?

Edit Your Own Digital Magazine – Flipboard Launches the World’s First Social Media Magazine on the Apple iPad

21 Jul

Today, the iPad will get a new app. It will transform the way people discover and share content by combining the beauty and ease of print with the power of social media. Flipboard is founded by Mike McCue, former CEO of TellMe and Evan Doll, former iPhone engineer at Apple. Flipboard calls itself “a social magazine that brings life to the stories, photos, new and updates being shared across Twitter and Facebook.”

“With over 1 billion messages posted every day, social networks are quickly becoming the primary way people discover and share content on the Web. The result is a huge influx of incoming messages and links people must sort through across multiple web sites just to stay up to date,” said Mike McCue, Flipboardʼs CEO. “We believe the timeless principles of print can make social media less noisy, more visually compelling and ultimately more mainstream.”

The magazine is created from a user’s social content that can be easily separated in sections and personalized. Readers can choose from a list of suggested section topics such as sports, tech, news and style with curated content from popular feeds or create a new section simply by searching a topic.

Flipboard will debut in its first public demo tomorrow at the FORTUNE Brainstorm Tech conference in Aspen, Colorado at 4:40pm MDT. Fortune is offering virtual access to the Brainstorm conference. Register here.

For more information go to and download the app on iTunes! Follow @Flipboard on Twitter for updates.

So how exciting is this? You can edit your own digital magazine. Now I can save time with all my tweets, links, feeds and pages curated in one super social media magazine! Wonderfully designed.
