Trovata’s lawsuit against Forever 21 worked??

14 Apr

Trovata’s shirts are on the bottom, Forever 21’s on top.

Many designers from Diane Von Furstenberg to Anna Sui have tried to sue Forever 21 for blatantly stealing their designs. Designer Trovata is the only one who has been successful in legally nabbing the mass producer. But, unlike suits in the past, Trovata isn’t accusing Forever 21 of copyright infringement. They’re alleging Forever copied unique button placements, decorative stitching, and fabric patterns, among other things.

If this actually goes through, this could be bad business for us ladies who try to look good on a budget. Really bad business. The quality of the clothing in chain stores like Forever 21 and H&M will go down significantly. Only time will tell…

I’ve read (recently) that if designers copyrighted their clothing and could sue for copyright infringement that it would do the fashion industry an injustice so that’s probably why no one has been successful in suing for copyright infringement.

I guess they have smart lawyers to be able to go from another angle.

yep! if they were successful, there’d just be a bunch of lawsuits being thrown around and no one would buy clothes because none of us would be able to afford it lol
